Valheim console commands and cheats

131 commands, 70 of them cheats, plus 25 emotes.

Valheim has a built-in console. You turn it on in the settings or with the -console launch option, then press F5 in game. Some commands work straight away, like help for the list and pos for your position.

The cheats, also called dev commands, need devcommands first. That unlocks god, ghost, fly, goto, spawn, tod, killall, exploremap, raiseskill and the rest. They only work in a world you host or, on a dedicated server, for admins. Using one stops that character and world from earning achievements.

To spawn an item or creature you need its prefab name, which isn't always its in-game name. The Valheim spawn IDs list has every item and creature code. To teleport with goto, the seed map copies the command for any spot in your world.

Open the console

Turn on Settings › Gameplay › Enable Console, or start the game with the -console launch option (it overrides the setting).
In game, press F5. On a gamepad: LT + LB + Start.
Type help to list the commands you can use right now.

Commands that aren't cheats also work in chat without the console: type / and the command, e.g. /sit.

Cheats

devcommands turns cheats on and off. They only work in a world you host: single player, or a game you started that others joined.
The first cheat a character uses asks you to type confirmcheats. After that, achievements can't be unlocked for that character or that world.
Dedicated servers: players listed in the server's adminlist.txt can run devcommands and the commands marked Admin; they run on the server. Other cheats don't work there.
