Valheim trader locations: Haldor, Hildir and the Bog Witch

Haldor camps in the Black Forest, Hildir in the Meadows and the Bog Witch in the Swamp. How far out each one spawns and how to find them on your seed.

An empty forest trading stall displaying a Megingjord belt, Dverger Circlet and fishing rod.

None of the three traders has a fixed camp. Each has up to 10 candidate spots per world, and the seed map shows them all before you set out, with the nearest one picked out for you.

The quick answer

TraderBiomeDistance from world centrePossible spotsMin. gap between spots
HaldorBlack Forest, away from its edge1,500 m or more10512 m
HildirMeadows3,000 to 8,000 m101,000 m
The Bog WitchSwamp, away from its edge3,000 to 8,000 m101,000 m

The game places the spawn by searching outward from the world centre, so these distances are roughly distances from where you start. The map’s distance rings show them exactly.

How trader spots work

World generation picks up to 10 candidate spots for each trader. The first one a player comes near becomes the trader’s camp for good, and the others disappear. The trader’s icon appears on your map once you’re near enough.

So on a new world, the candidate nearest to where you explore is the one you’ll find. On a shared server, it’s whichever one any player reached first.

Find them on your seed

  1. Open the seed map and enter your world’s seed, or drop your .fwl world file on the map.
  2. Open the World tab. Under Traders it lists each trader’s nearest candidate spot from spawn, its distance, and whether you can walk there or need to sail.
  3. Click a trader to jump to it. The detail card says how many possible spots that trader has.

Direct links for the default seed, which you can change in the map: Haldor, Hildir, the Bog Witch.

If you’ve already explored the area around a candidate without finding the trader, someone may have triggered a different spot. Check the next nearest one.
